Something happened to me that I want to share with you. At first I was telling it to my friends and family via emails, and since you fit into that category as well, I will share it with you, too.
I went to bed a little heavy...a lot of things on my mind, a lot of decisions to make and needing a lot of answers. So I spoke to God and let go of everything that was bothering me. I repented for all that I have done, knowingly and unknowingly. (Let’s face it, a lot of things we are in because of the decision we make or lack thereof.)
Then I began to thank Him for just being there and listening to me, ‘cause to be honest, sometimes I feel like I just get on His nerves with all my issues; and when it comes to my Father I can be a little selfish. I guess you could call me a “Daddy’s Girl,” it’s who I’ve always been!
Anyway, when the mask was finally removed, tears began to flow. What started as tears of pain, became tears of joy. I felt a surge of power like a current of electricity moving out my body—an anointing power. I knew that God loves me! I was able to feel His presence, just the two of us. I sang to Him: "Show yourself mighty, show yourself strong, show yourself awesome in the midst of the storm. In the time of trouble, He will give you a song. Show yourself mighty, show yourself strong” (Albert Jameson & The New York Choir). I continued until I sang myself to sleep.
I’m writing all of this to say. He answered me! When I woke up the next morning, the weather was bad. It was storming raining really hard, but in the midst of it, I was still feeling content. Driving to work, I looked up (yeah, Ty Tribbet) and there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky, clear as the day in sun, yet standing out through the rain. I cried and rejoiced! I've seen a spectrum of light on ground, but I can't remember when I’ve ever seen it in the sky. It may mean nothing to some, but it affected me. I began to remember what I had been taught.
I went back to His word and put the signs and wonders together. In His word in Genesis, God's first creation was light; God's first creative act was the creation of light. The creation of light has always been significant because in James 1:17 it describes God as the "Father of lights." Look on in the scriptures:
In 2 Samuel 22, David said: "For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness."
In Psalm 27:1, first part, David wrote that "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?"
Psalm 119:105 says "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path," His word is light!
In John 1:1-13, shows the revelation of God in Christ Jesus is compared to light.
Revelation 22:1-5, says that the only light necessary in heaven is God, Himself.
As the first chapter in the Bible refers to light, so does the last. I remembered it and its so clear now—my rainbow’s meaning; now look at this. After the flood, God promised never to destroy the earth again, and He chose a rainbow, a phenomenon caused by light passing through water, to signify this. It hit me hard, the reality of it all! I began to bless God, thanking Him, praising him, rejoicing, crying and laughing (yeah, I was still driving), because God always confirms His word, and when I put one and one together—it was then that I realized how much He truly loved me. God’s love is different from any other love and this was His sign to let me know that He heard me and His promises are good—they all are! YES and AMEN!
I know we often do the pass along thing on the internet—the send this to 7 or 25 people and you will be blessed today thing, but for real, I'm going to pass this to you, because we are blessed daily—when we go out, when we come in, in the city, in the field—if you are reading this now, you are blessed! I want you to know that He hears your every prayer, no matter how simple, crazy or repetitious it is. He loves you and He wants you to trust Him and His word. I will pass it on to you, all of you because what you have prayed on will come to pass if you have the faith and rest in Him!
You don't have to pass this on; it's just a little reminder because sometimes, although we know He does, we don't think He will. But know that He loves you and cares for you! I submit to you that God has been well aware of the importance of light, and has used it as a symbol of Himself, throughout the time of His interaction with all mankind. Lift up your head and sing the song of the gospel, “Walk in the light, beautiful light… Jesus The Light of the world!”
In loving memory of my Uncle Joe- Joseph “Sonny” Welch
