Gospel Train: Grace & Peace!
By Rev. Monroe
“The money I have isn’t reason enough/ There’s someone with much more than I have. The car that I’m driving in isn’t reason enough/’cause there is someone with one better than mine. The house that I have will soon fade away/ The hair on my head is already turning grey. But salvation will last always/ And that’s reason enough, dear Lord, to give you praise.”
This is a song that was ministered by a brother at my church. It speaks the volumes of a high attitude of gratitude and giving praise for the little, yet biggest meaning of life- Salvation! Some of us are so blessed to have the finer things in life, or to some they are just the basics— house, car, land, great job. It’s a wonderful thing. We should never knock anyone’s blessings. But then what? Are you complete? Is Jesus anywhere in the equation?
We travel the world looking for something, wanting to be complete, trying to start over, but Jesus will come right where you are to fill up your empty space. Not only does He love us, He likes us. After you have done all that you wanted to accomplish and find that all of these things— physical, tangible things— are not it, what’s next?
Jesus’ love, His life, His gift of salvation will never go up or down in price like gas. It won’t fade out like a pair of jeans. In fact it is more necessary than food and shelter. It –salvation— is the necessary ingredient to a better life, not just on earth, but for the eternal reservation for the Kingdom penthouse suite J.
So tell someone about it, about Him. There is no future without Christ. There is no redemption without Christ, and although I maybe a little early in the Easter mode—time is moving so fast that we can’t wait to spread the gospel. Baby, this train is going express and like time, it waits for no one. So tell someone that “To the utmost Jesus Saves! He will pick you up and turn you around. Hallelujah, Jesus saves!”
Can I get a witness?!! I have a new artist (well he’s new to most but re-introduced to some) who can agree and he’s not new to this walk with Christ. Having been in the game (or on the battlefield for the older saints) for years and put in his time, he knows the trials and tests he has to go through to continue to be an over comer and he has the testimony in songs to back it up.
Rev. Ben Monroe has his single out on Ben’s True Records/Monroe Family Publishing, BMI, called “Love Lifted Me.” It is a revised interpretation of the traditional song that encourages people in an up-tempo beat, that when nothing else can help, love lifts. Not only is he playing the guitars, but he’s singing and rapping—-yes he spit a few verses for the youth to recognize that he can relate to them as well.
I was fortunate to have met Rev. Monroe and his spirit is uplifting as the reflection of what Christ did for him. He is passionate about the gift that God has given him, and having spread the gospel for 29 years, he has the desire to not only sing his praise, but to learn and seek to gain more knowledge and understanding of God’s word. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in ministry at the New York Theological Seminary. Rev. Monroe is a proud musician and minister at his home church, All Saint’s Temple, COGIC in Hempstead, LI where Bishop Rochford is the pastor. As a musician, he has not only been on this side, but has played in the secular world for Ms. Millie Jackson. Maybe you heard his first album called “Who Jesus Is” that was out in 86/87. It gained so much attention and drew an unbelievable audience worldwide. Demond Wilson known as “Lamont” of Sanford and Son was so overtaken with Rev. Ben’s project that he assisted and went on tour with him. Rev. Monroe is still moving in his craft by teaching music — piano, voice, guitar, bass, basic music theory and he even writes and arranges music. This single that’s out now is just a taste of his up and coming double CD called “Cold or Hot.”
We are looking forward to this man of God’s tribute in song to display more to the world- he has a vision and without a vision the people perish. We speak success to your future and upcoming projects as you continue to spread God’s word to the masses!
